Hydraulic Timing Chain Tensioner SR400 SR500 TT500 XT500

Hydraulic Timing Chain Tensioner – Installation Guide
Installation Procedure
1 Remove the complete OEM chain tensioner.
2 Install the hydraulic tensioner in the same position as the OEM unit. The adjustment is similar: the center bolt must align precisely with the housing.
3 Note: As the tensioner touches the guide rail, turning the bolt becomes stiffer due to damping — this is normal.
4 If installing with a new tensioner rail, the hydraulic tensioner must be compressed before mounting (thread length is longer).
5 Warm the tensioner with a hairdryer to approx. 40 °C / 104 °F to thin the oil and make installation easier.
6 The center bolt may recess up to 6 mm / 0.24″ into the housing without affecting function.
7 Tighten the locknut to 40 Nm.
? Adjustment Interval: Every 200,000 km / 125,000 miles.
